An Nur Learning Academy Outreach- 6/26/26

Our outreach visit to An Nur Learning Academy was a great opportunity to introduce students to STEM using LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 robots. 

We started by explaining the basics of LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 and how the robots are built and programmed. Each of the team members presented slides detailing different aspects of general robotics, such as software, and the similarities of those aspects to the human body. The students then split into groups, and we guided them, step by step, as they built their robots. Throughout the session, we answered questions, encouraged teamwork, sparked creativity, and fostered problem-solving skills. 

Seeing how excited and confident the students became as their robots came together was our favorite part of the outreach. Our team members felt rewarded by watching the students learn through hands-on experience and explore new ideas in robotics. In teaching others, we discovered the importance of sharing knowledge for the greater good,

This experience showed us how effective hands-on learning is for engaging students in STEM. Some ideas for improvement include: projecting more during the presentation, giving clearer step-by-step explanations, providing clearer photos for the presentation, and engaging more with the entire group in order to maximize attention spans. Ensuring all groups are relatively in the same position would improve time management and increase the probability of completing more advanced steps. 

Ultimately, our team learned valuable lessons and improved their teaching skills. The experience was rewarding on many levels, and we are deeply grateful to NUR Learning Academy for hosting us.
