2011-2024 OUTREACHES

FIRST GLOBAL - June to October

first global phoot

FIRST Global is an international robotics competition that is part of the FIRST organization. Almost every single country in the world. Each country sends 1 robotics team that represents the country to participate. The robot completes tasks in a game theme around a world issues. For example, this years challenge is centered around wildfire prevention, mitigation, and recovery. Team Inspiration mentors FIRST Global teams Togo, Paraguay, Benin, Eswatini, Ecuador, and Haiti.

Bangladesh Mentoring - Year Round

meeting with bangledesh during robosub comp

We also reached out to a rookie RoboSub team, Project Poseidon’s Code. We guided this Bangladesh team on the fundamentals of RoboSub, providing them with access to several resources, such as our homegrown RoboSub 101 document, and answering their questions. We guided them on starting their RoboSub team, designing their vehicle, selecting sensors, and strategizing for the competition.

Now, the team lead on Project Poseidon’s Code RoboSub team is part of our RobotX Team and works on software remotely and building a custom firmware for the Pixhawk.

ECUADOR ROBOTX TEAM - Year Round

first global ecuador team

We are preparing an Ecuador team for RobotX 2028 that we met via FIRST Global. The team registered for competition this year, but they were unable to get the resources. We have been working with this FIRST Global Team for 6 years, and are guiding them through creating a RobotX team.

SeaPerch Regional Competition - 4/4/26

teaching @ seaperch

We attended the San Diego Sea Perch Regional Competition and demonstrated our RoboSub, RoboBoat, and MonkeyBot to over 200+ Robonation students and parents. We demonstrated our RoboSub and Roboboat in the pool and taught the Sea Perch students about other Robonation competitions and Team Inspiration. We received excellent feedback from the Sea Perch organizers.

An Nur Learning Academy - 6/26/26

We visited the An Nur learning academy and taught ~25 students about lego robots. We started by explaining the basics of LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 and how the robots are built and programmed. Each of the team members presented slides detailing different aspects of general robotics, such as software, and the similarities of those aspects to the human body. The students then split into groups, and we guided them, step by step, as they built their robots. Throughout the session, we answered questions, encouraged teamwork, sparked creativity, and fostered problem-solving skills.

Systems Engineering Tech Talk - 7/1/26

Our team (Colin, Carina, and our mentor Coach Alex) presented about Systems Engineering.

Urban Life - 7/6/26 to 7/10/26

building seaperches
racing robot

Team Inspiration taught at the Urban Life Minitries Summer Camp from 7/6-7/10. We challenged students to design and build devices to protect their eggs during an egg drop challenge while learning the engineering design process, invited the Urban Life Summer Camp students to our lab for a Team Inspiration Lab tour & build SeaPerches, built a Lego Mindstorm robot that they can remotely control through an obstacle course, had a UCSD tour, and how to add accessories, like light/color sensor, to their previous lego robot that they built on Wednesday to compete in a sumo tournament.

We showcased our LEGO Robots at USD STEAM Youth and Community Conference to passionate kids who are interested in robotics. In addition, we created a presentation, which taught the kids each step of mechanically building the racing robot and block coding it. We were able to demonstrate our knowledge and inspire the kids.

Manna’s Martial Arts - 7/29/26

manna's

We had our Manna’s Martial Arts Outreach, where we made fun robot skits about path-planning and object detection. The students were engaged building their Lego Mindstorm Robot, and coding a racing robot. We also had a MonkeyBot Station where students were able to remote control and learn about the parts of a MonkeyBot.

MTS (Marine Technology Society) Presentation - 9/9/26

The Team went to “quantum brew” to present Team Inspiration’s approach to RobotX 2026 challenges. The team illustrated the unique challenges of RobotX2026, stating the multi-vehicle, multi-domain challenges are rare in robotics competition. With the goal of building a system of systems, the team explained individual vehicle capability and how they work together through a redundant communication link.

Tech Talk and Volunteering @ SAUS - 9/16/26

talking to other volunteers

Team Inspiration co-leads Chris and Chase traveled to SUAS to give back to the robotics community by volunteering as judges and presenting a tech talk on our RobotX 2026 development. Beyond sharing our own experiences, they connected with leading teams, exchanged ideas, and brought new insights back to Team Inspiration to strengthen our RobotX efforts. We were also excited to build a new mentorship connection with KB, a SUAS judge, who joined our team as a mentor and continues to share valuable experience and guidance.

Autism Tree Open House - 9/20/26

We had our Autism Tree Open House today! Students and their families were very engaged and happy. The students and families got a Team Inspiration Lab Tour, built, customized, and programmed their own LEGO Mindstorm Robot. Additionally, they had the chance to drive the Blue Robotics Blue Boat around the pool, as well as SeaPerches.

Miramar Air Show - 9/26/26
